“If I had read somewhere about how a society took a selection of it’s young vulnerable females, allowed them to be stripped, abused, starved and shamed and then discarded once they were too old/fat/dead to use anymore, I’d have assumed I was reading about some ancient civilization, or a product of war or perhaps a sci-fi novel. Never would I have believed this to be the behaviour of a ‘normal’ affluent part of the world and more specifically, of people with power and enough money to put an end to this with no fear of reprisal.”
